Start with the image
Use the camera and 35mm lens in good window light before adding more equipment.
Soften one key light
Place the light and softbox about 45 degrees from the subject, then adjust height and distance.
Fill the shadows
Bring in the reflector only when the unlit side needs a little more detail.
Studio safety: Follow every manufacturer’s load and mounting instructions. Use a sandbag, secure cables, and never leave a raised light unattended.
